Features

How do I add items to my grocery list?

You can add items in several ways:

  • Search for a food and tap Add to List
  • Scan a barcode
  • Add ingredients from recipes

See Grocery Lists, Food Search, and Barcode Scanning.

Can I scan barcodes?

Yes. Open the barcode scanner and scan a product barcode.

If an item is not found, it may not be in our food database yet. You can use manual barcode entry and report the issue through SettingsHelp & Support. See Common Issues.

Where does nutrition data come from?

Grocery Savvy uses nutrition data from trusted sources, including USDA FoodData Central and data providers used in the app. Nutrition values may sometimes differ from a package label depending on serving size, preparation method, or product variation.

Why does Grocery Savvy use 100g instead of serving size for tags?

Grocery Savvy uses a per-100g basis for many dietary tag calculations so foods can be compared on a consistent baseline across different products and package serving sizes.

Package labels in the U.S. are commonly shown per serving, so values may look different until both are compared on the same basis. See 100g vs Serving Size.

What is SavvyAI?

SavvyAI helps enrich food information in Grocery Savvy, such as descriptions and helpful grocery or storage tips, to support better grocery decisions. See SavvyAI.
